There's literally two dosbox cores in vita retroarch

retroarch was never good working for me. can you confirm that corridor 7 and operation body count works good on this cores ? even the PS3 or Wii can not handle this games with cycle rate of 8000. its the same with the dreamcast emulator was not good working on retroarch first release from rinne. this emulator is to heavy and need stand alone. otherwise when this titles works, than we can close this topic.

got it to work with ~95% framerate, still not perfect here and there and fall in big rooms, but maybe decent playable enough. dosbox need performance update and better cycle settings. i am on map 4

NEW Test DOSBox Pure Core over Retroarch

Game = Corridor 7 MS DOS 2023-09-30_RetroArch Result = framerate in small screen good (95%), in fullscreen low (80%) 2023-09-30_RetroArch_piglet Result = framerate in small screen very good (99%), in fullscreen playable (90%)

piglet Performance = MAX or 386 20mhz - both good working piglet Latency framerate delay MS = 1 piglet = works faster ! gameplay more smooth (first test)

Big Problem = it only works in fresh install and first start (framerate 99%), after second start the framerate drops down for no reason and Corridor 7 gets unplayable (framerate 70% to 60%). when start in first time, retroarch will create a folder in ux0:data, when delete this folder for each new start, the problem is fix. so the folder is the problem maybe. is it possible to make a single loader for DosBox and cut out all other retroarch stuff and cores ? currently retroarch vpk is 400mb big, but dosbox is only maybe 30mb big. otherwise, this emulator is very good ! many old PC games must not port anymore. Operation body count maybe 90% in small screen now working.

• mostly done, need folder frame drop down fix, please. decent enough for 386 emulation.

Found the Problem ''framerate drop down after second start'' ! My gosh.

• delete folder in ux0:data/retroarch
• install fresh 2023-10-02_RetroArch_piglet.vpk
• start RA in first time and start also in first time Corridor 7, use all options = 99% - 100% framerate on 386 setting
• close the game and start the game again with same options = 70% framerate on 386 setting, bug corrupt

When Corridor 7 gets first time started, RA will create a new retroarch folder in ux0:data/retroarch. In the same time it will also create a file with the name DOSBox-pure.opt in -> ux0:data/retroarch/config/DOSBox-pure/DOSBox-pure.opt. When I delete DOSBox-pure.opt file, after that RA will give me again full 99% - 100%. In this fact I must not delete the full retroarch folder with include save files. So save files are ok and dont get lost anymore.

Result + Found : file DOSBox-pure.opt is corrupt and lose 25% framerate when use second start ! Need highly FIX and than its done. Otherwise do it so, that RA dont create the file DOSBox-pure.opt.

FIX for 'framerate drop down after second start' =

• start Corridor 7 the second time where the framerate go down to 70% for unknown reason.
• go to Core Options
• Manage Core
• use RESET OPTIONS
• close Content
• start Corridor 7 again, FIX Fullspeed, must setup all again each time.

NOTE: this is NOT a full FIX, there are some Settings that need restart effect, this will currently not work on this way. but we must not delete DOSBox-pure.opt over vitashell anymore, make it more easy.

Note A : New version do not have anymore the Dosbox Pure core, only SVN core still there. Pure has best settings. Latest from 2023-11-06. Download fast as possible older RA build versions, otherwise they get delete after some weeks.

Note B : Testing Quake 1 final version and Beta copy, both was working with ~30% framerate unplayable. But textures and music was perfect working.

Note C : Windows 3.1 is working with DosBox Pure, plus complete install. Windows 95, the complete install is working, but the DosBox version is not compatible for W95 (to old).
